Camping in Sask Parks
Whether you’re interested in staying the weekend or the whole summer, Sask Parks has a variety of camping opportunities available to meet your needs.
Nightly Camping
Nightly campsite reservations are accepted for most Saskatchewan Provincial Parks using our online Campsite Reservation Service or over the phone. All campsites include fire pits, firewood, picnic tables and access to fresh drinking water. All of our primary campgrounds offer service centres which provide hot and cold running water, sinks, electrical outlets, showers and flush toilets. You can book your stay for any length of time from a short weekend getaway to a month-long camping adventure.
Seasonal Camping
Seasonal camping is ideal for campers who would like to set up a campsite as their home away from home in the summer months. This long-term stay allows campers to come and go as they please. The provincial park seasonal camping program offers an opportunity to secure a campsite from park opening in mid-May to the end of September at most locations. There are 20 provincial parks offering seasonal camping with numbers varying from park to park. Seasonal campsites will be available online or through the call centre and allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Group Camping
Group campgrounds provide a secluded spot where your whole group can camp together. With plenty of space to gather around the campfire, group camping is a bonding experience your family and friends won’t soon forget. Not only that, but it’s convenient too. Sites have fire pits, access to water and firewood, and most offer a covered cooking shelter at no additional charge. Group campgrounds make it easy to book sites all together under one reservation. Group campgrounds are ideal for family reunions and other gatherings.
Backcountry and Wilderness Camping
Saskatchewan’s Provincial Parks offer many opportunities for backcountry and wilderness camping. Hike, canoe or drive to an out-of-the-way campsite and experience camping in a rustic way. Campers using backcountry or wilderness sites are expected to minimize their impact on the natural landscape by practicing a “Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out” philosophy. Saskatchewan Parks’ wild spaces offer some of the most breathtaking and challenging camping experiences Saskatchewan has to offer! These areas are meant for the adventure-seekers who enjoy a more rugged camping experience with limited or no services. Backcountry permits are available online for Meadow Lake Provincial Park.
Equestrian Camping
Equestrian camping provides an opportunity for campers to explore the parks with their horses, while staying overnight in an area specifically suited to meet the needs of campers traveling with horses. Services offered in each equestrian campground differ by park, but basic services are always available: corrals, tie stalls, and access to water ... and that's just for the horses. Human companions will be well looked after too, with limited-service camping spots located in the vicinity of the corrals.
Hammock Camping *NEW
New this year, visitors can experience hammock camping at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park! This form of camping is a unique way to spend the night in the outdoors and truly connect with nature. The weaver structure accommodates up to six hammocks, so grab a couple of friends and spend some time “hanging” in the park this summer!
Hammock camping is offered in site E036 (Elmview Campground) at Buffalo Pound for $50 a night. Hammocks can be rented for $10 each if campers do not have their own – both regular and zip-in hammocks are available. A zip-in hammock is a great option to keep the bugs out!
